Special Session Proposals

Call for Special Session Proposals

ACM International Conference on Multimedia Retrieval (ICMR2019) will be held in Ottawa, Canada (http://www.icmr2019.org) and will include one or more Special Sessions on innovative and frontier topics in the field of multimedia computing and retrieval. Different from the regular sessions, special session should provide an overview of the state-of-the-art and highlight research directions in a field of special interest to ICMR participants. Each special session should be a focused effort rather than defined broadly, attracting the presentation of innovative contributions in the targeted narrow domain.

Special Sessions Requirements

Each special session should target around 4-5 oral papers. The session organizers will be responsible for the selection of these papers. Special session papers, which can be invited or submitted, are limited to 6-8 pages. They will supplement the regular research papers and be included in the proceedings of ICMR2018.

The following information should be included in the proposal:

  • Title of the proposed special session
  • Session abstract (stating the importance of the topic and the rationale for the session)
  • Names and affiliations of the organizers (including brief bios and contact information)
  • List of potential authors committed to submit paper (including a tentative title and a 300-word abstract for each paper)

Evaluation of the Proposals

Proposals will be evaluated based on topic appropriateness for ICMR, its relevance and potential impact in the targeted field, the experience of the organizers, the potential in attracting high quality submissions, and the overall quality of the written proposal.

Important Dates

  • Proposal Deadline: 03/15/2019
  • Proposal Notification: 03/22/2019

Proposal Submission

Those who are interested in organizing a special session should submit a proposal with the above requirements by email to the Special Session co-chairs, and all the papers in the special sessions should follow the same style as the regular ICMR2019 papers.
